Newmont launches new interactive site featuring gold mining processes and phases
Newmont Mining Corp. has launched Lifecycle of a Mine, an interactive microsite featuring the activities and processes that make up each stage in the life of a modern-day gold mine.
Videos, interactive graphics and photographs provide real-world imagery and descriptions of the science, technology, skill sets and tools that comprise the six stages in the life of a modern-day gold mine. Lifecycle of a Mine draws from multiple Newmont operations and other sources to cover the full spectrum of operating practices, from exploration through post-closure care. Over time, Newmont will grow the microsite to include a robust content archive. A video preview of the microsite is available here.
Created as an educational resource for Newmont’s stakeholders, Lifecycle of a Mine reinforces the Company’s commitment to transparency in its practices as it creates value and improves lives through sustainable and responsible mining. In addition, Lifecycle of a Mine helps drive continuous improvement across the mining industry by sharing best practices.
More information on Newmont's safety, economic, environmental and social performance can be found in the company's annual sustainability report, Beyond the Mine.
