SME call for nominations 2025;Help us shape the future of our industry

You will soon be receiving a letter from 2025 SME President Bill Hancock asking for nominees for the Society’s leadership. Do you know a member who is interested in a greater involvement in the leadership of the Society? Do you know a member with a record of service to SME? Do you know a member who has held senior executive positions with a record of accomplishments? Are you, perhaps that person? We would love to hear from you. In this time of change and uncertainty, we recognize the challenges many of our members face in navigating a shifting professional landscape. That is why strong, thoughtful leadership is more important than ever. SME is seeking individuals who can help shape the future of our industry, and serve the mining, resources and underground construction communities for a sustainable future. We invite you to nominate a fellow member who embodies our values and advances our mission. All candidates must be an SME member in good standing and commit to a minimum of two in-person meetings annually. We are seeking candidates with diverse interests, backgrounds, experience and education, and who are from different geographic regions, industry areas and specialties. Open positions include for the 2028 SME President and two 2027-2030 SME Board Directors. We are also seeking two 2026-2029 term members each for these committees: Association Growth Strategic Committee. Industry Innovation Strategic Committee. Industry Workforce Strategic Committee. Responsible Mining and Underground Construction Strategic Committee. Structure and Governance Committee. Audit Committee. Finance Committee. Each of these committees will select their own chairs from their current committee members who have served at least a year on the committee.
