The Great Debate

The Great Debate is intended to be a good-natured debate about the mining industry with a goal of raising funds for the U.S. National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum. The opinions expressed here are those of the author and not necessarily of SME or Mining Engineering . Follow The Great Debate, where some of the world’s leading braggarts from six mining sectors have been enlisted to brag, roast cajole and otherwise humorously make their case for being the most important sector to mining. In return, you can prove the value of your sector by voting and donating online.

On February 1, Doug Silver will begin the Great Debate, representing the geoscientists/geologists. That article will be published online, exclusively at Mining Engineering's website (https://me.smenet.org/index.cfm?). But you don't have to wait to donate in the name of your favorite sector at bit.ly/Gr8Deb8 or by visiting the National Mining Hall of Fame website at  https://mininghalloffame.org/page/great-debate
