Environmental Division events in store for attendees at MINEXCHANGE 2025

The Environmental Division (ED) Executive Committee is looking forward to the upcoming MINEXCHANGE 2025 Annual Conference & Expo in Denver, CO and extends an invitation to all SME members to attend ED events. While ED events are open to all conference attendees, the Tuesday Environmental Division Lunch requires a purchased ticket. The times and locations for all events can be found in the conference schedule. If you are interested in the current work and functions of the ED, we invite you to attend our Executive Committee Meeting on Sunday morning and/or our Business Meeting on Monday morning. These meetings are a great opportunity to learn about our ongoing initiatives and how you can get involved.For those looking to participate in the ED’s future activities, come visit our table at the 2026 SME Annual Conference Program Committee Meeting on Wednesday morning and join us for the Nominating and Planning Committee Meeting on Wednesday afternoon. Additionally, our Acid Drainage Technology Initiative (ADTI) Subcommittee will be meeting on Sunday afternoon. Don’t miss the chance to mingle with ED members and environmental professionals at the ED Lunch on Tuesday. Tickets can be purchased during conference registration or added to your existing registration via the registration website or booth. This year’s lunch will feature a presentation by Kimberly Finke Morrison, president of Morrison Solutions, on “Transforming Tailings: A Global Knowledge Revolution.” The program will also honor students and professionals receiving ED awards and scholarships. As part of the conference’s technical program, the ED has organized 12 sessions throughout the conference. We also host a student poster contest on Tuesday morning, where the top posters will receive awards during the ED Lunch. Be sure to stop by the technical sessions and also view the student posters to learn about the innovative research and projects being conducted by our members and students. To support our student scholarships and awards, the ED will host a silent auction throughout the day on Tuesday in the SME Resource Center located in the Exhibit Hall. During the auction, you can bid on unique rock and mineral samples, jewelry, artwork, gift baskets, logo items and more. We are excited to reconnect with colleagues and friends at MINEXCHANGE 2025. Your participation in our events will contribute to meaningful discussions and collaborations within the environmental sector of the mining industry. We can’t wait to see you there.
