Colorado School of Mines education -- what it is, where it is headed

PREVIEW:
Although mining is currently one of the smallest academic units on the Colorado School of Mines (CSM) campus, it is alive and well, with nearly 100 undergraduate and graduate students. For many years, Mines has had undergraduate and graduate programs in hard-rock mining. The school has recently transferred its physical mineral processing activities to the Mining Department. The program has also expanded to include tunneling, underground construction and industrial minerals. There are current discussions about increased research activities on cement and other construction materials.
