Like most businesses, Rio Tinto Borax collects data on safety statistics, air emissions and charitable contributions. In 2000, though, the company went one step further and began collecting data on how its operations contribute to communities beyond the life of its mines. Rio Tinto Borax also wanted to know how its products impact the environment throughout their entire lifecycle.
