PREVIEW:
The Antamina project is setting new standards in environmental, health and safety (EHS) management for large, international mining projects. This is especially evident in the area of compliance standards, permitting requirements, lending institution involvement, public consultation, community involvement, medical support services and safety culture. Mining projects have always presented challenges to the management of EHS. Typically the larger the project and proximity to people, the greater the challenges. In addition, there has been an increasing trend that has spread internationally to greater regulation of the industry .
