If you have not noticed, the mining industry business-to-business electronic marketplaces have been multiplying like rabbits. Listed in this article are about dozen of the entries. They fall into two classes: those primarily focused on consumable supplies and equipment, and those focused on commodity sales. Both classes offer much the same services. They act as procurement hubs, bringing together buyers and sellers while taking a small percentage of the transaction. There is generally no software needed to join the e-marketplace, just an Internet connection. Listing a company’s products on the hub or seeking and buying a product on the hub is generally at no initial or access cost, but there are exceptions.
