New legislation could provide boost to mining education programs in the United States

It is broadly agreed upon that the world will need to increase production of a number of minerals including copper, lithium, cobalt, nickel and others to meet the growing demands created by a push for expanded renewable energy sources and electric vehicles.

In addition to the difficulties that arise from that goal and hurdles such as permitting and other legislative issues, the mining industry is faced with the challenge of maintaining a steady supply of qualified workers, trained at the university level in mining engineering programs and related disciplines for the operation of such mines.
