Adapting openpit mine design fundamentals to leverage the advantages of autonomous haulage systems

It is common practice in the mining industry, and even legally required in many jurisdictions, to design two-lane haul roads in openpit mines to three-and-a-half times the widest dimension of the haul trucks operating on the road. In openpit gold mines with high strip ratios, road width has a significant impact on the economics of design.
