Exploring space mining: Technology applications and potential uses for extracting metals from celestials

From the recent U.S. presidential executive order in support of space mining to NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) findings on the moon, and an announcement to buy regolith from private companies through an auction, there was plenty of news for the space mining industry in 2020. Many space programs have already finalized plans to mine the moon and other celestials in the next decade. The European Space Agency (ESA) made the boldest statement yet by scheduling its mining operation for as early as 2025. The winner of this race will be the one who designs an efficient mining operation in space.
