From March 1-5, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration entered a brave new world of hosting its annual conference, the MINEXCHANGE 2021 SME Annual Conference & Expo and Colorado Mining Association 123rd National Western Mining Conference, as a virtual event.
The annual conference typically draws thousands of people who spend four days attending technical sessions, visiting exhibitors and connecting with colleagues at a number of social functions throughout the week. This year’s conference had been scheduled to take place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, CO but the COVID-19 pandemic prevented that in-person meeting from taking place.
Forced to move to a virtual format, MINEXCHANGE 2021 featured more than 200 technical sessions, six keynote sessions that were broadcast live and included real-time question and answer sessions. The virtual event also hosted more than 30 scheduled events, including signature presentations and Move Mining.
