At the conclusion of the MINEXCHANGE 2021 SME Annual Conference & Expo, held virtually for the first time in the Society’s history, Bill Edgerton was installed as President of SME. Edgerton’s placement as President of the Society marks another first for SME as he becomes the first SME President to come from the Underground Construction Association (UCA), a Division of SME.
With a background in tunneling and underground construction and other heavy civil engineering projects, Edgerton will look to establish a theme of finding common ground, not just between the UCA and SME’s seven other Divisions, but among all SME members, irrespective of Division, Section or other affiliation.
Edgerton recently spoke with Mining Engineering about his goals for his year as President of SME.
