ABSTRACT:
The Success Mine and mill site is located in Shoshone County, approximately 8 km (5 miles) northeast of Wallace, ID, and is within the Coeur d’Alene Mining District of northern Idaho (Fig. 1). The project site — incorporating the mine, a 150,000 to 270,000 m3 (200,000 to 350,000 cu yd) tailings and waste rock pile and mill foundations —covers about 4 hm2 (10 acres) within a steep-sided narrow canyon drained by the East Fork of Ninemile Creek (EFNC). The EFNC is a tributary to Ninemile Creek, which is a tributary to the South Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River.
