Conceptually, the mine roof truss systems resembles a bridge truss with the roof rock acting as the compression members and the steel rods acting as the tension members. In its simplest form, the mine roof truss consists of two inclined steel rods anchored in the roof rock over the mine entry rib lines and connected together by a tensioned horizontal tie rod as shown in Fig. 1.
