ABSTRACT:
In the survey of the value of undergraduate student research that appeared in the August 31, 2001, issue of Science, 131 liberal arts colleges reported that the number of students engaged in research increased by 70 percent during the past decade. During this same period, intensive summer research internships have increased by 40 percent.
