ABSTRACT:
Researchers have long sought a way to easily quantify the effects of acid consumption by silicate minerals when evaluating the evolution of water quality at former, current and future mining sites. However, the variable composition of silicate minerals and the complex kinetics of silicate dissolution make it difficult to make straightforward predictions of silicate buffering.
