Mining Engineering , 2002, Vol. 54, No. 12, pp. 25-33
Schiffbauer, W.H.

ABSTRACT:
Researchers at the Pittsburgh Research Laboratory (PRL) of the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) have been investigating proximity warning systems (Schiffbauer, 1999) that can be used to warn and protect persons working close to heavy machinery in surface and underground mining operations. Their efforts are based on statistical data that identified the need for the investigation.
