Cycles in metal prices

ABSTRACT:
A major and continuing problem for mineral producers is the great variability in the prices of products they sell. These fluctuations consist of the following two aspects, both of which cause great difficulty. First, the extent of variation in price is very large, often prices may double or half within a year or so. Second, the duration of the periods of expansions and contractions in prices are long but irregular in length.
