ABSTRACT:

Surface-drilled horizontal wells are becoming a useful tool to efficiently remove gas ahead of underground mining operations. This type of well offers the benefits of low residual gas content, uniform drainage and fast gas-recovery rates. Surface-drilled horizontal wells frequently provide the most cost-efficient methane predrainage option available.
