DeZURIK specializes in slurry-handling valves for isolation in demanding applications. Depending on pressure, temperature and percent solids, DeZURIK can provide the best valve style that provides maximum performance and optimum value in abrasive slurries.

KSV Severe Service Knife Gate Valves meet MSS SP-135 standards and are specially designed to withstand high pressures and abrasive slurries – some of the toughest services in mining, including oil sands processing.

Numerous features make the KSV Severe Service Knife Gate Valve style ideal for isolation in high-pressure, high-density slurry lines. The rigid one-piece body, 100% diameter port, hard-faced gate and rotatable seat rings make this valve ideal for the most rigorous applications. KSV valves are available in sizes 3-60" (80-1500mm) and are ASME Class 150 and 300 rated for pressures to 740 psi and temperatures to 450°F. KSV Valves provide bi-directional shutoff.

The KSV Severe Service Knife Gate Valve is also available in double block & bleed design, used to isolate and drain downstream system media while safely maintaining upstream pressure. The Double Block & Bleed design combines two ASME Class 150 or 300 pressure rated knife gate valves into a single unit with a single actuator and a central bleed port, providing a dual isolation solution. The integral double valve/single actuator design minimizes leak paths, reduces weight and saves costs.

KUL Urethane Lined Knife Gate Valves feature a one-piece, cast-in-place bonded liner that provides bi-directional, drip-tight shutoff to either 150 or 250 psi (1030 or 1720 kPa) CWP. The KUL knife gate valve, available in size 2-48” (50-1200mm) is an enclosed design which keeps all process media contained within the pipeline with no discharge to atmosphere.

DeZURIK’s KUL Urethane Lined Knife Gate Valve an outstanding choice for light, medium and heavy erosive or corrosive slurries. The urethane liner provides resistance to repeated impact, abrasion, chemicals and heat - making it an ideal liner for demanding applications. The urethane liner is molded to the valve body casting. Extensive testing has demonstrated that a bonded urethane liner in a one-piece cast body is a superior solution. The urethane adheres to the metal with a bond that is often stronger than the urethane itself.

The one-piece, cast body provides the structural soundness required to perform reliably and safely when pipe stresses are present. Because the body is one-piece, the KUL eliminates a potential leak path inherent in split-body valves. Media is completely contained within the valve.

The gate provides superior performance in abrasive slurries. DeZURIK’s proven rounded, finish-ground gate increases packing and seat life. By engineering the optimum seat-and-gate engagement of the KUL valve, maximum structure support can be maintained while adhering to standard MSS-SP81 dimensional specifications.

DeZUIRK offers a variety of proven, successful packing systems. In addition to standard packing arrangements, two live-loaded, self-adjusting sealing systems are available, ideal for high cycle applications as well as remote, difficult-to-access locations.

KSL-LA Long Body Slurry Knife Gate Valves feature natural rubber or elastomer sleeves for applications consisting of abrasive, high solids content, wet or dry media. This push-through style valve features sleeves compressed by sleeve retainers that allow the valve to provide bi-directional, drip-tight shutoff to the full pressure rating of 100 psi CWP (690kPa. The compression-loaded sleeve design eliminates the need for conventional style packing. In the full open and closed positions, the sleeves seal to both downstream and atmosphere.

KSL-LA Knife Gate Valves are available in sizes 2-24" (50-600mm) with temperature ratings to 177°F (81°C) as standard, and additional sizes and options on application.

KSL-SD Short Body Slurry Knife Gate Valves features a short body design with face-to-face per MSS SP-81. This valve provides bi-directional, drip tight shutoff to full pressure rating of 150 psi CWP on 2-16" valves 100 psi CWP on 18” and larger valves.

DeZURIK makes a wide variety of valve styles that have been proven problem-solvers in many mining applications. Our Valve Solutions for Mining Guide includes mining process diagrams that illustrate the types of DeZURIK valves that are used for services such as Pump Stations / Process & System Water; Grinding; Hydrocyclone; Flotation – Column Cell and Supercell; Thickening/Filtration; Roasting; Tailings; Carbon In Leach and Electrowinning. The bulletin also contains chemical, temperature and process pressure guidance for products in specific mining applications.
