Potash Corp. and Agrium to merge to become Nutrien
June 22, 2017

Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc. and Agrium Inc. agreed to a merger in 2016 that will create a global agricultural giant worth an estimated US$36 billion. On June 22, 2017 the companies announced that once the merger is finalized the new company will be named Nutrien.

“The new organization will be the global leader in reliable, low-cost crop nutrient production, combined with the largest agricultural retail-distribution network in the world,” Potash Corp sida in release.

The regulatory review and approval process for the merger transaction continues and the parties expect closure of the transaction to take place in the third quarter of 2017.

Nutrien will be the second biggest producer of nitrogen fertilizer with operations in 18 countries and more than 20,000 employees worldwide.
