The 2012 SME Annual Meeting wrapped up on Wednesday night with the SME/AIME Dinner Reception.
All-in-all, the meeting and exhibit held at Washington State Convention & Trade Center in Seattle, WA was a success for the Society.
Final attendance was 5,102.
The conference kicked off on Monday, Feb. 20 with a fascinating keynote session titled Mine to Market: Now its global. Roderick Eggert, director and professor in the division of economics and business development at the Colorado School of Mines joined Christopher B. McGill, managing director policy analysis at the American Gas Association; David Cole, president and CEO of Eurasian Minerals and Jeffery Huspeni, senior vice president for Newmont’s Asia Pacific Operations for the discussion about the global nature of the mining industry. The discussion was moderated by Robert Schaffer, executive vice president for Hunter Dickerson Inc.
Following the keynote address there were 97 technical sessions covering every aspect of the mining industry. And in the exhibit hall, attendees could visit a record 690 booths.
The SME Annual Meeting will return to Denver, CO Feb. 24-27, 2013.
