ABSTRACT:The Mt. Whaleback iron ore mine is located in the northwestern corner of Australia, adjacent to Newman, Western Australia. Development of the mine started in 1968, and the mine now produces approximately 16 Mt (17.6 million st) of iron ore and moves 50 Mt/a (55 million stpy) of waste material.
