Role of virtual reality in safety training of mine personnel

Mining Engineering, 1999, Vol. 51, No. 10, pp. 33-38
Denby, B.; Schofield, D.

ABSTRACT:
The hazardous nature of surface and underground mining environments limits the type of safety training that can be carried out. Classroom training is often far removed from the real operating environment, and such training can only develop knowledge and skills to a certain level. On-the-job training must naturally be limited to the experience of safe working practices and procedures.
