ABSTRACT:
The Ferris-Haggarty Mine is an inactive mine site located in the Sierra Madre Mountains in Carbon County, WY, about 40 km (25 miles) west of Encampment. From 1898 through 1908, the mine produced an estimated 10.9 kt (12,000 st) of copper using underground methods. Of the mines that produced copper around 1900, it is Wyoming’s most famous.
